Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between 6 and 8 years old. They belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the 3 months leading up to their 6th birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between 8 and 8½. Easily recognised by their distinctive turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy making friends, playing games, going on visits and helping others.

My name is Jess (or Mouse to the beavers) and I am the Beaver Scout Leader. I started with Beavers when I was 16 as a young leader and progressed to assistant Beaver Leader and took over as Leader in September 2012. I didn't take the conventional route through scouting as I was a Rainbow, Brownie and a Guide before I became Explorer Scout and young leader. I have had many amazing adventures in both Guiding and Scouting including participating in the LIVE 07 performance at the 02 arena to celebrate 100 years of Scouting. I really enjoy the fun and excitement that beavers offers and also enjoy working with the young people.
